``Inari``

Owned, Created and Illustrated by:Bonita Chantanaprayoon

(This character was inspired by the real Inari, the goddess of prosperity in Japanese mythology. The following backstory was created by me.)

The new goddess of prosperity from my Wattpad series, “Once Upon a Memory”.

Hundreds of years ago, an infant was abandoned by her parents under a large cherry blossom tree. An old priest found her while on the way back to the Inari shrine he worked at, so he took care of her and named her “Sakura”. Due to the priest’s ability to communicate with the goddess Inari, she also cared for Sakura as one of her own.

As Sakura grew up, she became the shrine’s official Miko, having the duty to take care of the shrine’s well-being. A boy named “Aiden” (Yuu’s ancestor) often visited the shrine with his parents, thus becoming best friends with Sakura. Years later, the goddess Inari was fading away due to people losing faith in her abilities. Sakura couldn’t bare to see her being abandoned by the humans she loved so much, therefore she took over Inari’s duties as the new replacement goddess. Sakura no longer went by her name, and everyone now referred to her as “Inari”. That is, everyone except for Aiden.

A few years later, mysterious monsters arrived upon this world, causing a huge cataclysm. Aiden realized what he had to do, and visited Sakura for the last time one evening, giving her a cherry blossom hairpin as a farewell gift before departing somewhere no one knew. Deep inside her heart, Sakura still believed that one day Aiden will return. Years turned to decades, and decades turned to centuries, but Aiden never came back.

As she was starting to lose hope, her encounter with the pink-haired and blonde-haired adventurers may just be the key to finding Aiden and what clues he had left behind…
